Mom would rather 'take out' their children than let ICE have them

An Oregon parent, who identifies with they/them pronouns and is known for having 26 facial piercings, recently stirred controversy with a TikTok video suggesting they would prefer to “take out” their own children rather than have them face Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

In a video posted on Monday, Octavia Dylan Quinn expressed a startling perspective, claiming that their proposed course of action would be “an easier way out” compared to their kids encountering federal authorities.

Quinn further described ICE agents as “pedophiles,” voicing their belief that these agents could pose a threat to their children’s safety.

Despite the alarming statements made in the video, Quinn later clarified to the Daily Mail that the video does not accurately represent their values or intentions, nor the full context of the discussion from which it was taken. They strongly denied endorsing any form of violence or harm towards children or others.

Quinn, who is employed as a foster parent recruiter in Rogue River, a town roughly four hours from Portland, has since removed their TikTok account. Nonetheless, the video has gone viral on social media.

In the contentious video, Quinn remarked, “I really pray it doesn’t get bad enough, but being a mom in America… I often think if it gets to the point of knocking on doors – God, and like to even have these thoughts, it’s like I’m literally separating from reality.”

Text across the screen asked if ‘other moms think this way.’

The mother, who also runs their own non-profit, added: ‘If it comes down to me taking out myself and my kids versus us being taken and harmed by ICE, like God help me, I did not want to do it.

‘This is not the life I wanted. But this is a very dark thought that I’ve had. Death would be a easier out than for my children to be taken and harmed by these pedophiles.’

Before deleting their account, Quinn posted a video directly after stating they picked up a gun.

‘I swore I’d never own one, but this country is scary,’ they wrote, referring to the weapon.

The mother’s videos quickly made many online users worry about their children’s safety, as many of them said they reported Quinn to Child Protective Services (CPS), and others encouraged each other to do so.

‘Somebody call CPS on this woman. Immediately,’ an X user wrote.

‘CPS seriously needs to get those kids away from her,’ another commented.

Other users tagged the agency themselves, as well as President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

In the statement to the Daily Mail defending their actions, Quinn continued: ‘The clip captures part of a broader, hypothetical discussion that involved examining scenarios and options, which is a common and lawful way people think through complex or emotionally charged topics.

‘Posing a hypothetical and discussing all possible solutions does not equate to endorsing harm or intent.

‘At no point did I advocate violence or harm toward children or anyone else. I am firmly committed to the safety, dignity, and well-being of children and families, both personally and professionally,’ Quinn added, without specifying why they fear that federal officers would approach their family.

According to their online presence, Quinn works as a foster parent recruiter, runs their own non-profit, and also works for another charitable organization.

They also work as a substance use peer support specialist for Stabbin Wagon, a non-profit that offers overdose prevention materials in Jackson County, a 2023 Facebook post detailed.

‘They will be working full-time to support folks with their substance use journey, to assist them in achieving their own self-identified goals and stability,’ the non-profit wrote about Quinn.

‘Octavia values autonomy and self-determination, never coercion so we knew this would be a perfect fit!’

Quinn’s non-profit, Octavia’s Options, sets out to ‘provide stable housing and supportive services for those in need’ in their community, according to the organization’s website.

The Daily Mail contacted CPS for comment.

Quinn’s comments come as the US continues to be divided over immigration enforcement across the country.

Since Trump’s second term began, the administration has fully enforced a massive immigration crackdown, especially in Democrat-run cities.

Tensions have been especially high in recent weeks after two US citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, were fatally shot during anti-ICE protests in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Good, a 37-year-old mother, was shot by ICE officer Jonathan Ross while she drove away during a protest on January 7.

Just weeks later, Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, was shot 10 times by Border Patrol agents in broad daylight.

The agents responsible for his death have since been identified as Border Patrol Agent Jesus Ochoa, 43, and Customs and Border Protection Officer Raymundo Gutierrez, 35.

The men were both assigned to Minneapolis as part of Operation Metro Surge, the administration’s attempt to crack down on illegal migrants in the city.
