In Grundy, Virginia, a significant change is on the horizon for Buchanan County’s educational landscape. Council High School may soon merge with other local high schools to form the new Southern Gap High School. This potential consolidation took a step forward when the Buchanan County School Board gave its initial approval with a 4-2 vote during a recent meeting. It was board member Brian Looney who put forth the motion to integrate Council High School into the new institution as early as this coming August.
