Over four years have passed since a South Carolina woman mysteriously disappeared, leaving her family and authorities searching for answers.

Alexis Ware, who was 29 years old at the time, was last seen on January 22, 2022, at a 7-Eleven gas station in Anderson County. Shortly thereafter, her vehicle was discovered abandoned in a wooded area within McCormick County, as reported by Greenville Online.

Law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the area but did not find any evidence pointing to her whereabouts. A tip led police with bloodhounds to Hickory Knob State Park, but unfortunately, this effort also yielded no new information.

In a poignant revelation to WHNS, Ware’s mother shared that one of her daughter’s last communications mentioned being followed by a mysterious black truck.

According to the father of Ware’s son, she had left her two children with him before driving away from the gas station. Initially, he was considered a person of interest in the case, as he was the last known individual to see Ware. However, authorities eventually ruled him out as a suspect for reasons that remain undisclosed.

Now 33, Ware is described as being between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing between 215 and 230 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Details about what she was wearing at the time of her disappearance have not been provided.

Anyone with information regarding Ware’s whereabouts should call the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office at 864-260-4405.

Alexis Ware’s case is being covered as part of Crime Online’s “Finding the Lost: Black and Missing” series, which will feature a missing Black person every day in February. The full series can be read here.
