The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department reported that a victim was discovered dead in a bedroom where the blaze had erupted.
In Jacksonville, Florida, Thursday night took a tragic turn when a mobile home off Sunbeam Road caught fire, claiming a life. Firefighters rushed to the scene to tackle the alarming situation.
A spokesperson for the department revealed that emergency crews were dispatched to Neal Drive shortly after 9 p.m. Initial alerts suggested that an individual might be trapped within the burning residence.
Upon conducting a thorough search, firefighters found a male victim lifeless in the bedroom, the very heart of the fire. No other individuals were located inside the home.
Efforts are underway by the State Fire Marshal to determine the fire’s origin, while the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating to ascertain whether the death was accidental or if foul play might be involved.
“In any case of a fire fatality, the incident is promptly treated as a homicide,” explained District Chief Aaron Bebernitz.
This is the second deadly fire in Jacksonville this year, with the second happening just two days earlier. On Tuesday morning, a woman was found dead inside another mobile home on Collins Road following a fire.
