Australian authorities are preparing for significant demonstrations as Israeli President Isaac Herzog begins his state visit, having landed in Sydney earlier today.

Upon arrival, Herzog was swiftly escorted from the airport under the protection of a robust police and security detail, marking the commencement of his three-day stay.

During Herzog’s visit, law enforcement has been equipped with enhanced powers, allowing them to enforce movement restrictions and establish designated exclusion zones.

Police officers are also authorized to conduct searches of individuals and vehicles without a warrant.

Those who fail to adhere to police directives may face fines reaching up to $5,500 or be barred from the main event areas.

Authorities expressed their hope that these powers will remain unused, emphasizing their ongoing collaboration with protest organizers to maintain peace.

NSW Premier Chris Minns on Saturday urged protesters to remain “calm and respectful”.

He also asked residents to avoid the CBD if they can and confirmed there would be a “massive” police presence.

“We can disagree without resorting to clashes or violence on Sydney streets,” Minns said.
