ATLANTA – In an unfolding investigation, the FBI has been granted a search warrant allowing them to collect numerous boxes of ballots from Fulton County, Georgia. This action is part of a broader criminal probe into potential “deficiencies or defects” in the 2020 election results, which were not in favor of former President Donald Trump, as detailed in a recently unsealed affidavit.

The affidavit sheds light on the reasons behind last month’s FBI search targeting this county, a focal point for Trump and his supporters who have persistently alleged election misconduct in 2020.

However, the accusations presented in the affidavit echo long-standing claims by those alleging fraud during the 2020 election. These have been consistently dismissed by audits, state officials, the judiciary, and even Trump’s former attorney general, all of whom have found no significant evidence of fraud capable of changing the election outcome.

Investigators are examining issues like Fulton County’s admission of lacking scanned images for all ballots from both the initial and recount processes. Additionally, the county has acknowledged instances where some ballots were scanned multiple times during the recount, as noted in the affidavit.

“Should these deficiencies be the result of deliberate actions, it would constitute a violation of federal law, irrespective of whether this impacted the election’s outcome,” the affidavit states.

The document argues that seizing these election records is essential to ascertain whether records were deliberately destroyed or if the vote tally included fraudulent votes. It references possible breaches of laws concerning the preservation of election records, a misdemeanor, as well as statutes criminalizing any willful and knowing deprivation of a fair and impartial election process, which is considered a felony.
