Ohio teen accused of running over pregnant girlfriend

An Ohio man faces charges after reportedly running over his pregnant girlfriend with a car, resulting in her death, and then attending a vigil for her the following day.

Nineteen-year-old Cameron Martin was engaged in a heated argument with 21-year-old Stephanie Householder in the parking lot of Broadway Wharf in East Liverpool on July 19.

During the altercation, Householder exited the vehicle and moved behind it.

It was at this moment that Martin allegedly reversed the car, hitting his girlfriend.

According to arrest records cited by Law & Crime, Martin’s reckless driving led to Householder’s tragic death.

The following day, the teen organized a candlelight vigil at the same location to honor Householder, but the event quickly descended into disorder.

East Liverpool Police Chief John Lane said the event ‘turned into a riot,’ the police were called and everyone was ordered to leave, per WTOV9.

‘I don’t know what he was thinking,’ Lane said.

A grand jury indicted Martin on two counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.

When police responded to a 911 call, Martin was reportedly kneeling over Householder’s body.

She was airlifted to a Pittsburgh Hospital where she and her unborn baby were declared dead.

Prosecutors alleged Martin’s actions resulted in the ‘unlawful termination of Householder’s pregnancy.’

Martin, now 20, has reportedly been cooperating with the investigation.

He turned over his phone for investigation and gave a written statement on the day of the incident.

Police do not believe he struck Householder on purpose.

‘He says he watched her in the mirror, but then when he goes to back out of there, I think he accidentally ran over her,’ said Lane.

‘We’re trying to figure that out now, whether it was intentional or not.’

Martin was taken into custody three days after the secret indictment by a grand jury.

He is scheduled to appear for arraignment on February 26, reported WFMJ.

Martin is being held at the Columbiana County Detention Center on a bond of $100,000.

According to her obituary, Householder was ‘looking forward to being a mom.’ Loved ones remembered her as sweet, driven, and ‘full of life.’

‘She was humble and loved by so many. I was proud to see the young lady she became, driven and intelligent,’ read one tribute to her.

‘She loved everyone for the most part. Never saw a side of her otherwise.’

The Daily Mail contacted the East Liverpool Police Department for comment.
