A donut delivery driver has been left with serious injuries following a vicious roadside attack in Melbourne.

A father describes a life-altering experience after being assaulted by two individuals on scooters in Albert Park.

More than two months have passed since the incident, yet Satya Perumal continues to face challenges with his speech, a constant reminder of the night he was attacked.

The 41-year-old was on his routine donut delivery route when he encountered two scooter riders performing wheelies amidst traffic.

“I asked them, ‘What are you doing?'” Perumal recounted.

The situation escalated into violence when Perumal attempted to contact the police.

“Two people attacked me, hitting me everywhere,” he explained.

“Then I opened my eyes, two guys run away [and] take the motorbikes.”

Battered and bruised, Perumal has undergone major jaw surgery since the attack on December 13.

He is on the waitlist for a second operation and struggling to keep his family afloat.

“[I’m] like a poor man, I go out asking for money,” he said.

“The electric bill is already overdue, gas bill overdue. It never happened like this [before].”

A GoFundMe has been setup to help them in the short term but Perumal says he feels like he’s being ignored by investigators.

“The police say the case is closed,” he claims. “How you can close simply like that?”

Victoria Police insist the investigation is still active but they’ve hit a major roadblock.

There’s no CCTV from the scene, no new witnesses and Perumal’s boss says the truck’s dashcam wasn’t recording.

So for now, there’s no way to identify the attackers.
