USS Ford ordered to the Middle East, the second aircraft carrier being sent to the region

The USS Gerald R. Ford has been redeployed from the Caribbean Sea to the Middle East as President Donald Trump considers possible military action against Iran, a U.S. official confirmed to Fox News. This move comes amid escalating tensions in the region.

With this deployment, the U.S. will have a substantial military presence in the Middle East, featuring two aircraft carriers along with their support vessels. The USS Abraham Lincoln, accompanied by three guided-missile destroyers, arrived in the region over two weeks ago.

The USS Ford, which embarked on its mission in June 2025, had previously been stationed in the Mediterranean Sea before moving to the Caribbean last fall. This strategic shift was part of the administration’s efforts to bolster military forces ahead of operations aimed at capturing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

In related developments, President Trump issued a stern warning to Iran on Thursday, stating that failing to come to an agreement with the U.S. over its nuclear program could lead to severe consequences. This statement followed indirect negotiations between the two nations in Oman last week.

“It should happen quickly. They should agree very quickly,” President Trump remarked to reporters, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Trump held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday and said he insisted to the Israeli leader that negotiations with Iran must continue.

Netanyahu is calling on the Trump administration to push Tehran to scale back its ballistic missile program and end its support for terror groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah as part of any deal.
