Maureen Crosland, aged 84, was on a heartfelt errand with a future family member, heading out to collect a wedding dress for her granddaughter’s upcoming nuptials.

The car was allegedly stolen from a service station in Sydney’s south and police had tracked it for about 40 minutes before the fatal collision.

Tragically, both Crosland and her companion, 60-year-old Lee Casuscelli, lost their lives at the scene of the incident.

Crosland, who was preparing to welcome Casuscelli’s son into her family through marriage, is fondly remembered for her unwavering commitment to St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Campbelltown. Her passing has left a profound void in the community.

Assistant Priest Richard Healey of St John the Evangelist shared, “When I broke the news during Mass this morning, the entire congregation was visibly moved and shaken.”

“The sorrow was palpable, with many shedding tears over the tragic circumstances,” he continued.

He added, “They were en route with the groom’s mother to gather wedding dresses, making the loss even more heartbreaking.”
