Samsung is slopping AI ads all over its social channels

In a world where artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming the backbone of technological advancements, Samsung is not one to be left behind. The company, known for embedding AI into its smartphones, appliances, and a plethora of other gadgets, is now embracing this technology on social media platforms. Over the past few weeks, Samsung has released several videos across its YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok accounts, all crafted or refined using generative AI tools. Among these, the latest promotional video for the forthcoming Galaxy S26 series stands out.

The teaser, aptly titled “Brighten your after hours,” showcases two individuals skateboarding at night, allegedly highlighting the new Galaxy S26’s low-light video capabilities. As the video nears its end, a note subtly appears at the bottom, acknowledging that AI tools assisted in its creation. However, even without this disclaimer, the artificial nature of the video is apparent. For instance, the shopping bags filled with vegetables seem oddly unrealistic and poorly weighted, and the cobblestones on the road appear to morph as the scene progresses.

Similar AI disclosures are present in many of these clips, yet platforms like YouTube and Instagram have not appended their AI labels to the “Brighten your after hours” video. This omission is curious, considering Google, Meta, and Samsung have all agreed to use C2PA, the standard for authenticity in AI labeling. We have reached out to Samsung, Meta, and Google for their insights on this matter.
