The husband of beleaguered Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has been prohibited from entering the department’s main office following accusations that he sexually assaulted at least two female employees within the premises.
According to a report by the New York Times on Thursday, security footage from the office allegedly shows Dr. Shawn DeRemer embracing a woman for an extended period during work hours on December 18. This footage is now under scrutiny as part of a criminal investigation into the Portland-based anesthesiologist.
Sources acquainted with the matter confirmed to The Post that DeRemer is no longer allowed in the building and that an official complaint has been lodged with Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department.
DeRemer’s ban occurred in the same week of late January when the documentary “Melania,” featuring First Lady Melania Trump, debuted at the Trump-Kennedy Center, according to those with knowledge of the situation.
The police report, acquired by The Post, was filed on January 24 and indicates the complainant reported “unwanted sexual contact” at the Labor Department’s Washington, D.C. headquarters. The incident is being treated as a misdemeanor sexual abuse case in the ongoing investigation.

The police report, obtained by The Post, was made on Jan. 24 and notes the complainant reported âsexual contact against her willâ at the Labor Department’s DC’s headquarters and that the incident is being investigated as a misdemeanor sexual abuse case.
The women came forward in January amid an Labor Department inspector general investigation into allegations of misconduct by Chavez-DeRemer and two of her top aides.
DeRemer, 57, was banned from the building after the women raised their concerns to the inspector general.
âIf Mr. DeRemer attempts to enter, he is to be asked to leave,â read a building restriction notice viewed by the New York Times.
The Labor Department, DeRemer and a lawyer for Chavez-DeRemer did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Post first reported in January that Chavez-DeRemer was under internal investigation amid claims she abused her position by pursuing an âinappropriateâ relationship with a member of her security detail; drank in her office during the workday; and committing âtravel fraudâ by having her chief of staff and deputy chief of staff âmake upâ official trips to destinations where she could spend time with family or friends on the taxpayersâ dime.
An alleged outing to an Oregon strip club Chavez-DeRemer took with staff shortly after she was confirmed by the Senate is also under scrutiny.
The Senate Judiciary Committee has launched its own probe into the allegations.
Chavez-DeRemerâs security man, chief of staff Jihun Han and deputy chief of staff Rebecca Wright have all been placed on administrative leave.
