An off-duty police officer has been charged after allegedly being caught drink driving twice within hours.

A 53-year-old sergeant from the Northern Region Command in New South Wales was reportedly found to have a positive breath test around 11:30 a.m. while driving on the Pacific Highway in Coffs Harbour.

Following his arrest, he was transported to Woolgoolga Police Station, where subsequent breath analysis revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.131.

The sergeant received a Future Court Attendance Notice for driving with a mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA), and his driver’s license was suspended.

Later that evening, at approximately 9:15 p.m., authorities responded to calls about a driver being restrained by the public on Red Rock Road near Coffs Harbour after engaging in reckless driving.

This driver, who was reportedly the same individual, once again tested positive for alcohol.

He was taken into custody at Coffs Harbour Police Station, where a breath test showed a reading of 0.191.

He was charged with high-range PCA and drive motor vehicle whilst licence suspended.
