Search for kidnapped grandfather Chris Baghsarian centres on dense bushland
The police search for kidnapped 85-year-old grandfather Chris Baghsarian has today returned to remote bushland north-west of Sydney.

Authorities are intensifying their search efforts in the dense bushland of Glenorie, located about 44 kilometers from the heart of the city, as optimism for finding him alive begins to wane.

This morning, officers resumed the search operations, planning to deploy both the canine unit and aerial support via helicopter in the coming hours to track down Baghsarian and his captors.

Just yesterday, investigators revealed that a 2022 Toyota Corolla, discovered burned out in Westmead last Tuesday night, has been connected to a property in Dural. This site is believed to have served as a hideout for those involved after the abduction.

The authorities suspect that the car, which had Victorian registration number 1UZ2BU, was deliberately set ablaze and abandoned shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

Detectives assert that this vehicle, allegedly stolen from Victoria prior to Baghsarian’s disappearance, originated from the deserted property in Dural.

Last Friday, police raided the building, which they have labeled as a “stronghold” for the kidnappers, uncovering evidence that included unsettling images of Baghsarian alongside his alleged abductors.

His family have pleaded for the elderly grandfather, who depends on daily medication, to be released by his captors and police have set up Strike Force Chobat.

Senior police said last Friday hopes of finding Baghsarian alive were “fading”.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything relating to the kidnapping or witnessed any sort of suspicious activity in the Dural area to contact Crime Stoppers.
