The FBI has terminated 10 agents and analysts linked to the classified documents investigation led by former special counsel Jack Smith concerning President Trump, according to a bureau representative who confirmed this on Thursday.

On Wednesday, it came to light that subpoenas had been issued to Kash Patel, currently the FBI director, and Susie Wiles, who is now serving as Trump’s White House chief of staff during his 2024 campaign.

Patel informed Reuters, which initially broke the news of the subpoenas, that agents had sought his phone records “using weak reasons and concealing the entire procedure in restricted case files meant to dodge any oversight.”

An official from the FBI told The Post that the situation was “not just about phone records and subpoenas—it was an extensive targeting operation” that probably included more than just the two Trump administration officials.

A spokesperson from the FBI Agents Association (FBIAA) released a statement denouncing the “unlawful termination of FBI Special Agents today, which—similar to other dismissals by Director Patel—violates the due process rights of those who endanger their lives to safeguard our country.”

“These actions diminish the Bureau by removing vital expertise and unsettling the workforce, eroding trust in leadership, and threatening the Bureau’s ability to achieve its recruitment objectives—ultimately raising the nation’s vulnerability.”
