Shia LaBeouf posts $100K bond, ordered to attend rehab after Mardi Gras arrest

Shia LaBeouf, the well-known actor, has been released on a $100,000 bond but faces mandatory rehab and regular substance testing after being arrested on Mardi Gras Day in New Orleans.

Following his arrest outside a Marigny bar, LaBeouf must adhere to court-ordered conditions including rehab and substance testing to avoid remaining in jail. His bond was set by Judge Simone Levine, and court documents confirm that the 39-year-old actor appeared on a simple battery charge. He is scheduled to return to court on March 19.

The updated conditions for his release demand that LaBeouf complete a rehabilitation program, undergo regular drug and alcohol testing, and avoid both the alleged victims and the bar where the incident occurred.

The arrest took place early on Fat Tuesday after LaBeouf was involved in an altercation outside the R Bar in the Marigny district. Reports from the New Orleans police indicate that he became confrontational when asked to leave the premises, resulting in him allegedly striking two individuals and using homophobic language.

Footage captured by WWL Louisiana shows LaBeouf removing his shirt, shoving someone, and throwing punches while onlookers urged him to stop, shouting, “Don’t swing” and “Chill, chill.” Eventually, bystanders restrained him until the authorities arrived.

Video obtained by WWL Louisiana shows LaBeouf removing his shirt, shoving a man and throwing punches as bystanders yelled, “Don’t swing” and “Chill, chill.” He was eventually pinned down until police arrived.

He later returned to Bourbon Street and was seen posing for photos with fans after his arrest. Days later he posted “Free me” on X in a social media post.

He faces two counts of simple battery.

LaBeouf was initially released Feb. 17 on his own recognizance, meaning he did not have to post bond. During Thursday’s hearing, the judge called him a public safety risk when intoxicated before setting the new bond and conditions.

After the hearing, he was seen rushing away from reporters, avoiding questions as he ran down Tulane Avenue.
