It’s been almost ten years since Pokémon GO revolutionized mobile gaming, and the enthusiasm for it in Australia hasn’t waned. Many players remain just as captivated as they were when the game first launched.

Among those dedicated fans is 31-year-old Ryan O’Hara from Wollongong.

Since the game’s inception, Ryan has been a passionate player, investing thousands into Pokémon GO without any regrets.

In his journey, Mitch has captured over 6,500 Pokémon and walked close to 250 kilometers—nearly equivalent to the distance between Sydney and Canberra. His enthusiasm has even inspired several friends to join in the adventure.

“They’ve all become hooked,” Mitch shared with nine.com.au.

“I now spend a significant amount of time carefully planning raid days, advising them on the best Pokémon to keep, and teaching efficient catching techniques.”

This Wednesday Mitch worked from home just so he could take part in virtual Pokémon raids during his lunch break.

He was joined by friends who also worked from home or rostered off for the occasion.

Mitch doesn’t tell many strangers about his passion for Pokémon GO but said the game is a great alternative to spending hours on social media.

“It’s helped me stay in touch with friends who have moved overseas and makes downtime more exciting than just endlessly scrolling.”
