Unattended bag delays Staten Island St. Patrick's parade day after Iran bombings: report

Staten Island’s St. Patrick’s Day parade experienced a brief delay on Sunday due to an unattended bag, amidst heightened international tensions related to the escalating conflict with Iran.

A Target bag, suspiciously left near the parade’s starting point, prompted a nearly hour-long investigation by police, who treated it as a potential explosive threat, according to reports.

The Staten Island Advance reported that the bag was discovered at the intersection of Forest and Pelton Avenues in West Brighton.

Eventually, the bag’s owner returned to claim it, facing jeers from the gathered crowd, as noted by the Advance.

Police later confirmed that the threat was a false alarm.
