Gwyneth Paltrow pal slams fellow Dems response to Iran strikes

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Iranian business associate has criticized her fellow Democrats over their response to President Trump’s airstrikes on Iran, expressing her “incredible disappointment” with the party.

Moj Mahdara, a 48-year-old Iranian-American who co-founded Kinship Ventures alongside Paltrow, 53, likened the “decapitation” of Tehran’s Islamic regime to the historic fall of the Berlin Wall.

“The Democratic Party must move beyond their animosity towards President Trump,” stated Mahdara, who identifies as a “staunch Democrat,” during a Saturday evening interview on CNN.

Following the US-Israel airstrikes on Saturday, which resulted in the deaths of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, several Democrats, including New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and Minnesota Rep. Rashida Tlaib, condemned the military actions.

Mahdara, based in Los Angeles and a co-founder of the Iranian Diaspora Collective, praised the airstrikes and urged her liberal peers to “trust the Iranian people,” who have been celebrating in the streets following the attacks.

“This is a matter of national security. It’s about potential progress in the Middle East and being a supportive partner to the Gulf States and their ambitions,” she emphasized, noting that a regime change in Iran could expedite an end to the conflict in Ukraine, where Russian forces have been using Iranian-made drones against civilians.

“You want to support the people of Ukraine? You want to end that war? There is no getting around dismembering this Islamic Republic,” said Mahdara, who is married to academic and screenwriter Roya Rastegar.

“I think you have to trust the Iranian people. We know this government better than anyone else. When you dismember and decapitate this regime, you are going to see a change in the Middle East, in Venezuela, in China, [and] in Ukraine,” she said, reminding her fellow liberals that China is extremely reliant on sanction-busting Iranian crude oil.

“We have a tremendous opportunity. This will be like ending the Soviet Union, the Berlin Wall. This is a transformational moment for humankind, for security, and, as an American, this is in our interest to complete it,” Mahdara said.

“I am a Democrat. I have been a huge Democrat. I am incredibly disappointed with my party. I do not see myself in them at this moment,” she added.

Mahdara’s business partner, Paltrow, was previously attacked by some on the left after she expressed support for the Israeli hostages kidnapped by Hamas during the Oct. 7 attacks.

The “Marty Supreme” star signed the open letter titled “No Hostage Left Behind” in October 2023, calling for the immediate release of every Israeli held captive in Gaza.

She has also been vocal about sexual violence carried out by Hamas against female hostages, sharing an Instagram story asking, “Where are the feminists?” accompanied by the hashtag “#rapeisnotresistance.”

Amid December 2022’s anti-government protests in Iran, Paltrow also hosted a dedicated episode of her show, “The Goop Podcast,” titled “A Women-Led Iranian Revolution,” encouraging her audience to listen to Iranian women on the ground.
