Andrew Menczel has launched a scathing response to Stuart MacGill, labeling the former Australian Test cricketer as a “moron” and a “ticking time bomb” following a heated exchange on the Cricket Unfiltered podcast.
MacGill, known for claiming 208 wickets in 44 Test matches for Australia, has been a frequent guest on Menczel’s podcast. However, their recent clash has prompted Menczel to consider finding a new cricket analyst for the bi-weekly show, as he announced on Wednesday.
In a 24-minute episode titled Blow Up, which aired on Monday, tensions flared when MacGill reacted strongly to Menczel’s criticism of South African fans who taunted David Warner and his wife, Candice, during Australia’s challenging 2018 tour.
Menczel described the South African supporters’ actions as “low,” prompting MacGill to retort that there was no need to delve into the details. The 55-year-old former cricketer dismissed the discussion as “s****” and went on to call Menczel a “f***ing idiot.”
MacGill accused Menczel of emulating the behavior of the Proteas supporters by bringing up the incident, escalating the tension further. He criticized Menczel as “pig-headed” and repeatedly urged him to “move on” from the topic.

It came after he and MacGill (pictured) were involved in an explosive argument during an episode of the podcast, launched on Monday
Menczel had brought up how South African fans had inappropriately taunted David Warner and his wife Candice (both pictured), during Australia’s 2018 autumn tour
“Move on. Move on,” MacGill insisted. “Listen, you muppet. When I say move on, I’m not saying keep talking about it.” The confrontation reached a boiling point when MacGill warned Menczel, “Mate, I might jump across the mic in a second.”
Menczel attempted to continue the podcast, but after the heated moment, was unable to do so and abruptly ended the show.
He has since broken his silence on the matter, publishing a 14-minute podcast on Wednesday, during which he claimed that he had feared things could have gotten physical, while revealing what happened after the cameras turned off.
‘I did think as he was leaving, we might come to blows,’ he said during the episode, which was entitled, Picking Up Where I left Off: MacGill Fallout & Australia’s 2026 South Africa Tour.
‘[The] Show ends, I decide: “You know what, I can’t f***ing do this”. He goes off some more, yells at me and calls me the C-word. Storms out the door.’
‘I decide I’m just going to release the episode. No way am I going to sit on this. Apart from the fact that he was yelling at me to release the episode, which you would have thought by the way he was carrying on, he’d be begging me not to release it.
Speaking about MacGill he added: ‘What an absolute muppet he is.’
Daily Mail has chosen not to publish the full transcript of Menczel’s explosive address.

On Wednesday afternoon, Menczel had also posted an excerpt of the podcast on his X account, but the video was deleted two hours after it had gone live.
Menczel stated that he is doing fine in the wake of the explosive episode, adding that multiple people have reached out to make sure he was OK.
‘I don’t mind being called those things. I’m not a shrinking violet. Anyone who has listened to this show knows I can take a punch…’ the podcast host said.
‘People were checking in about my mental health – I’m doing fine.’
MacGill has since been criticised by some online in the wake of his explosive comments to Menczel, with one writing on social media: ‘MacGill should definitely be apologising to Menners after what happened at the end.’
Menczel then continued to address the matter, stating that he had some people tell him to remove the former Western Australia and New South Wales leg spinner from the show.
‘One thing about that I didn’t like was the bullying,’ Menczel said. ‘It was his attempt to bully me or bully anyone because that is not good to listen to. It’s not good to watch, and it doesn’t set a good example. I don’t mind arguing with someone and on the show, I did try to take on his point of view.
MacGill (pictured) fired up at the comments and branded the podcast host a ‘f***ing idiot’
‘But you know, he wasn’t having any of it. He had this meltdown that was immature. It was bullying, it wasn’t arguing. It wasn’t fun to listen to.’
‘Personally, the listeners don’t like it. I’ve had so many people reach out to me and say: “Ditch him from the show”’
The podcast host later said that MacGill had not apologised.
‘What was very worrying for me is that he has shown basically zero remorse for what he did,’ Menczel said.
‘There’s been no hint of an apology to me for the way he acted. There’s been no regret. That is worrying for me because I feel he is just a ticking time bomb.
The Cricket Unfiltered host went on to state that MacGill would be returning to record another podcast, which will go live on Thursday evening.
He added: ‘I’m not going to sit on my hands anymore, Stu. So when you come back in, I’m telling you, there’s a car boot full of stuff that I can bring up if you want to keep calling me words. I’d be very careful about that because things actually could kick off if he doesn’t watch it.
‘It’s not going to be one-way traffic forever.’
During an episode released on Wednesday, Menczel (left) claimed that he would be looking for a new cricketer to join the podcast in MacGill’s place, but added that the former Australia spinner would return for an episode on Thursday
Menczel said: ‘The way he treated me, that means he is going to get some of it back now.’
‘I don’t know if the podcast is able to continue in that light. I don’t want to be fighting with someone. I don’t want to get punched in the face. And let’s be honest, that meltdown was unhinged and insane. And he started twitching, like he was going to punch me.
‘When he left, he got in my face.
‘I’m not sure exactly what’s going to happen.’
Menczel stated that because of his commitments to the Indian fantasy sports platform, Dream11, he was contracted to do two podcasts a week for the next year.
‘I need a new cricketer to replace Stu. Until then, I might just have to get through on those Dream11 shows,’ Menczel said.
‘I have a contract to fulfil. I’m not going to let this moron drag me down.’
‘We are scheduled to go live tomorrow night, me and Stu. As I said, I’m not holding back anymore; the gloves are off. I don’t think he’ll be able to take it.’
MacGill played 44 Tests for Australia and took 208 wickets in a decorated career
Expanding further on their relationship, Menczel said he wouldn’t be friends with MacGill outside of the show, before explaining that he ‘felt sorry’ for the former cricketer.
‘I don’t want to be great mates with him. I’m here to do a show with him. I didn’t want to get involved in the other stuff.
‘I’m not going to go to the pub with him after the podcast. So I just thought that we’d be able to get through and maybe record a podcast together.
‘But he’s a broken man. He’s been through a lot. He’s been through stuff that is of his own making but there’s no doubt it has been very traumatic, and I think it’s left a big scar on him… I do feel sorry for him.
He added: ‘I think he needs help. That sort of behaviour is not on.’
