The United States and Israel hit Iran‘s capital and other cities in multiple airstrikes on Wednesday, the fifth day of the war with Iran. Israel targeted the Iranian leadership and security forces as the Islamic Republic responded with missile barrages and drone attacks on Israel and across the region.

Residents of Tehran were jolted awake by explosions at dawn, with Iranian state television broadcasting images of wrecked buildings in the heart of the capital. The attack extended to the Shiite seminary city of Qom and several other cities.

As fighter jets roared above, those remaining in Tehran anxiously watched the skies. A local clothing shop owner expressed his uncertainty, saying he felt at a loss for what to do next.

The semi-official news agencies Fars and Tasnim, which are known for their close ties to the Guard, reported on Wednesday that no meetings were taking place at the location when the attack occurred.

Hundreds have died, including children

The US-Israeli military strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 787 people in Iran, according to the Red Crescent Society. Meanwhile, the conflict has claimed the lives of eleven individuals in Israel.

Kuwait, which had previously reported one fatality, announced on Wednesday that an 11-year-old girl had died from falling shrapnel as Kuwaiti forces intercepted “hostile aerial targets.” Additionally, three people were reported dead in the United Arab Emirates and one in Bahrain.

On Sunday, six US Army Reserve soldiers lost their lives in Kuwait.
