MIDLOTHIAN, Ill. — A gaming cafe in the southern suburbs has been targeted by burglars for the fourth time, with the latest incident caught on video.

The break-in unfolded in a matter of seconds, just before law enforcement arrived.

Surveillance footage reveals the culprits smashing through the glass front door and continuing their spree of destruction with sledgehammers, damaging gaming equipment in the process.

“I’m not sure how much they managed to take, but they did get away with a box from one of the machines,” said Tom Pekic, a representative of Anna’s Gaming Cafe. “We can’t allow this to continue. It’s becoming unbearable.”

The cafe, located at 147th Street and Kilbourn Avenue in Midlothian, still bears the scars of the recent attack.

According to Pekic, this unfortunate event is not an isolated incident.

“They went in in October. Then, they came back again in January on a Sunday, didn’t succeed, came back on the very next Tuesday, broke in, smashed all the windows again. And now this is the fourth time,” Pekic said.

The video shows police lights outside as officers arrived, scaring the group out of the business, before, investigators say, they sped off in a vehicle but didn’t get far.

“They crashed the vehicle about a block away. They scattered, and then they were caught. Three out of the six were caught,” Pekic said. “There’s no amount of money in those machines that’s worth risking the rest of your future.”

Police did confirm three people from the group were caught, and charges are pending.

Pekic says the business will remain open while it undergoes repairs.
