In a tragic turn of events, a father and daughter from Mississippi were shot and killed during a Facebook Marketplace transaction involving a PlayStation 5. The grieving family suspects they fell victim to a deliberate attack.

Victor Gonzales, 42, and his 19-year-old daughter, Serenity, both electricians, were discovered dead in their work van on a secluded road in Panola County. This heartbreaking incident occurred just two days after they were last seen working, as reported by WREG.

Authorities informed a family member that tire marks at the location suggest a possible attempt to escape the scene.

According to Jessie Waterman, Victor’s son and Serenity’s younger brother, the pair had been working that day and planned to enjoy a meal before meeting to purchase the PS5 through Facebook Marketplace.

Although Jessie was unaware of the identity of the individuals his father and sister intended to meet, he expressed concern that “something must’ve gone wrong with the transaction,” as reported by WATN.

Jessie fondly remembered his sister as someone with a lively spirit, describing her as a “really fun person.”

Jessie was left with more questions than answers after his family’s work vehicle was found muddied off a rural road in Sardis — a town 50 miles south of Memphis.

“Normally they don’t have mud and stuff like that on the van, and on the sides and it looks like they were trying to flee from the scene,” he said.

The bodies of Gonzales and Serenity were found after cops responded to a one-car wreck, according to WJTV.

Panola County Sheriff Shane Phelps refused to comment on a possible robbery or ambush — but Jessie claimed Victor and Serenity didn’t have any enemies.

He refused to comment on a theory that the duo were trying to flee someone.

The investigation is ongoing.
