Shocking new video footage has surfaced, capturing the moment a small commuter aircraft plummeted into a residential area in Arizona. The plane struck the roof of one house before plunging nose-first into the backyard of another.
The gripping video reveals pieces of the Piper PA-28 resting on the roof of a home in north Phoenix. The small, battered plane lay wedged in the neighboring yard, precariously positioned between a swimming pool and a section of the house that serves as a baby nursery, as reported by ABC News.
Onboard the aircraft were a flight instructor and a student, both of whom, along with a resident from one of the damaged homes, were quickly transported to a nearby hospital, according to ABC 15.
All three individuals were admitted to the hospital, where they are currently reported to be in stable condition.
The Federal Aviation Administration indicated that the plane experienced mechanical issues and crashed while attempting to return to Deer Valley Airport around 7:20 a.m.
The crash led to the evacuation of the neighborhood as hazmat teams worked diligently to manage a fuel spill at the dramatic accident site.
The FAA is investigating the crash.
