Russia has provided Iran with information that could help Tehran strike American warships, aircraft and other assets in the region, according to two officials familiar with U.S. intelligence on the matter.

Sources familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly, have indicated that U.S. intelligence has yet to find evidence of Russia advising Iran on how to handle the information.

Nevertheless, this development marks the first sign of Russian involvement in the ongoing conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran, which erupted a week ago.

In recent times, Russia has strengthened its ties with Iran, seeking missiles and drones essential for its ongoing four-year conflict in Ukraine.

The Biden administration has released intelligence reports revealing that Iran has been supplying Russia with attack drones and has even supported the Kremlin in establishing a drone-manufacturing facility.

The previous U.S. administration had also charged Iran with providing short-range ballistic missiles to Russia for its military ventures in Ukraine.

The Washington Post was among the first to report on these U.S. intelligence details.

Asked whether the revelation had shaken Trump’s faith in Putin’s ability to cut any peace deal in the Russia-Ukraine war, Leavitt said, “I think the president would say that peace is still an achievable objective with respect to the Russia-Ukraine war.”
