Corey Harrison from the popular show “Pawn Stars” has shared how his father, Rick Harrison, offered crucial financial support following a serious motorcycle accident that saddled him with medical bills exceeding $100,000.

The 42-year-old TV personality sustained significant injuries in a January crash, forcing him to deplete his savings and turn to friends for assistance. In response, his friends even organized a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the mounting costs.

However, it was Rick Harrison, Corey’s father, who shouldered a substantial portion of the financial burden. Corey recently disclosed to TMZ that his father covered more than half of his hospital expenses, which he intends to repay in the future.

Corey emphasized that this financial aid doesn’t imply that Rick is in a position to easily afford such expenditures. The Harrison family’s financial landscape has changed since “Pawn Stars” was at its peak, when money was more plentiful. Rick, now 60 and a father of five, also has other financial responsibilities, especially after having remarried just two months ago.

The generous loan, Corey says, isn’t evidence his father is in a place to comfortably drop thousands of dollars either. 

The family are no longer in the same financial situation as they were at the height of Pawn Stars’ success when money was flowing more abundantly and Rick – a father of five who got married just two months ago – has other expenses to worry about.

Corey says his father has always made him ‘work’ for everything as well.  

‘I love my dad to death, but he doesn’t give me s***. My dad’s made me work for everything my whole life,’ he told TMZ. 

Not only that, but Rick asked his son to give up motorcycle riding long ago. 

Rick previously said to TMZ after his son’s accident: ‘Corey is a grown man and he will deal with his life as he sees fit.’ 

Corey has been facing quite the ordeal after he survived a motorcycle crash in Mexico earlier this year. 

The TLC star is now three months behind rent and has outstanding medical bills to pay after suffering fractured ribs, a punctured lung, internal bleeding, and a concussion in a January collision. 

Corey’s friends have now launched a GoFundMe to cover his medical bills, back rent, medical care, and travel home. 

The fundraiser describes in detail the harrowing ordeal Corey endured after the collision, which included weeks in two different hospitals and multiple surgeries.

Corey was first treated at a hospital in Playa del Carmen but was unable to remain due to the rising costs of his care. He checked out earlier and returned to his Tulum home, where he was struck with unbearable pain.

‘Within hours, Corey was in excruciating pain. A house doctor came in to administer IV fluids and morphine treatments. Corey was incredibly hesitant to take heavy pain meds, especially after losing his brother Adam to an overdose just last year, but the agony left him with no other option,’ the GoFundMe details. ‘The next day, his oxygen levels plummeted to dangerously low levels. In a heartbreaking moment that shook all of us to our core, Corey looked at us and said, “I’m just going to die out here. I don’t have the money to keep paying these people.” ‘

‘New X-rays at the Mérida hospital revealed the full extent of the damage: one rib had completely separated and was pressing into his lung. Surgeons drained nearly three liters of blood from his chest cavity. 

‘Corey underwent three life-saving surgeries and spent an additional 18 days in the hospital, battling through recovery. By the time he was finally stabilized and discharged, the total costs — from the initial stay in Playa del Carmen, emergency house calls, urgent care visits, the drive to Mérida, and the surgeries — had skyrocketed past $100,000. Corey emptied his entire bank account to cover what he could.

‘Friends, including myself, maxed out credit cards just to keep his treatment going. Being on television and part of Pawn Stars fame doesn’t come with a built-in safety net for emergencies like this — medical crises don’t care about celebrity status.

‘He’s three months behind on rent, still facing ongoing follow-up care, medication expenses, and he’s not yet strong enough to travel back to the United States for continued treatment and support from his family.

‘Every dollar raised will go directly to Corey to cover his outstanding medical bills, back rent, ongoing medications and therapies, and the costs of future travel home for full recovery. ‘

Corey was rushed to the hospital earlier this year after the crash left him with ’11 breaks in his rib cage’.

The reality TV personality took to Instagram on January 26 to reveal he has spent ‘three nights in hospital’ as he gave a health update.

Sharing a shirtless picture lying in his hospital bed, Harrison held up his two thumbs, which were wrapped in bandages.

The businessman also shared a selfie showing his cut face as he recovered in hospital and the X-ray scans of his broken bones.

He wrote: ‘Pretty messed up but I’m good crash bars are awesome 3 nights in the hospital, 11 breaks in my rib cage.

‘Will do an episode on @theCoreyHarrisonshow sorry Pops looks like I’m missing your wedding’.

Corey’s father Rick wed fiancee Angie Polushkin on January 3 at the Little White Wedding Chapel. 

Rick, 60, and Angie, 42, told People in a joint statement that they ‘are so excited to start this next chapter as husband and wife and celebrate with friends and family in Las Vegas.’

The newlyweds added, ‘It has been such an adventure already, and we are looking forward to all of it.’

The Pawn Stars vet announced their engagement in March 2025.  

‘She said yes!’ was the simple message posted next to a snap of the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop owner down on one knee beneath a tree the Chilean wine country.

Rick was dressed in jeans and a gray T-shirt, as he popped the question in the shade of a large tree.

The engagement came almost five years after Harrison filed for divorce from his ex-wife, Deanna Burditt, to whom he was married for seven years.
