What just happened?

Governor Gavin Newsom delivered a bewildering and lengthy response when confronted with a simple question regarding his political philosophy. He touched on figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, and the ethos of the 1960s.

In a conversation with comedian and podcast host Adam Friedland, the governor of California launched into a complex monologue when asked directly about his political objectives.

“I don’t have a catchy slogan like ‘Make America Great’ or ‘The Great Society,’ nor do I push for something akin to ‘Medicare for All,'” Newsom stated. “For me, it’s about genuinely standing up for principles and combating injustice, which is my driving force in every conceivable way.”

He then further digressed, referencing MLK, Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela.

“It’s about advocating for principles and challenging injustice. I consider myself a Sargent Shriver Democrat, rooted in the 1960s mindset, confronting ignorance, poverty, and disease,” he elaborated. “It’s about capturing the spirit of the ’60s, the legacy of King, and the movements led by Gandhi and Mandela, all of which embody moral authority.”

“That’s the zeitgeist, yeah, and that’s that. So that’s me. That’s my dad. So it’s my mom, that’s the book, and that’s my ‘why’,” Newsom added.

After Friedland pressed him on a delivering more concise message to voters, Newsom offered up an excuse.

“I’ve struggled with being able to communicate. I told you what my ‘why’ is and why I’m here, and I mean that, and that’s ingrained in every aspect of my life,” he concluded.

Viewers, including former Fox News host Megyn Kelly, couldn’t believe itheir ears and mocked Newsom’s meandering response.

“Gandhi and Nelson Mandela and Sarge Striver and zeitgeist and I’m not good at this,” Kelly laughed. “It’s not going well.”

“It’s so hilariously dumb,” guest Jesse Kelly added.

Critics social media agreed.

“I think that classifies as a word salad,” one Facebook commenter wrote.

“Did him and Kamala go to the same school?!” another asked, referencing the former vice president’s penchant for convoluted answers.

“Ask him what his position is on working fire hydrants,” a chimed in.

Newsom, a potential 2028 presidential candidate is currently on his book tour for “Young Man in a Hurry: A Memoir of Discovery.” He talks about his low SAT score and struggles with dyslexia in the tome.

The governor also told an Atlanta crowd that he is “no better” than them. “You know, I’m a 960 SAT guy,” he said.
