Early Saturday morning, a tragic incident unfolded in downtown Los Angeles when a man reportedly died after inflicting severe injuries upon himself, including the amputation of his own penis.

The Los Angeles Police Department informed KTAL that they were called to the scene following reports of a man self-harming at the junction of Figueroa Street and Pico Boulevard at approximately 3:40 a.m.

Authorities cordoned off the area and erected a white tent to shield the public from the distressing scene.

According to KTAL, a photographer with OnSceneTV managed to capture graphic images depicting the man, who had suffered a grievous injury that led to him bleeding to death.

The photographs allegedly showed a severe wound in the man’s groin region.

Further details gathered by TMZ from law enforcement sources revealed that the man had also inflicted multiple other wounds on himself, including slashing his throat, stabbing his body, and attempting to sever his arm.

Police have not released the identity of the deceased. It is unclear what he used to mutilate himself or why.
