The New York Police Department is urging residents to steer clear of the area around East End Avenue between 81st Street and 82nd Street in Manhattan due to active police operations.

“Please avoid the area of East End Avenue between 81st Street and 82nd Street in Manhattan due to ongoing police activity,” the NYPD announced on social media platform X on Sunday.

Two NYPD sources indicate that this police activity is linked to an investigation concerning two devices thrown during opposing protests outside Gracie Mansion.

This situation arises just hours after New York City officials confirmed that a device thrown during protests on Saturday near Gracie Mansion was an improvised explosive device (IED), with the potential to cause “serious injury or death.”
