The council has taken a strategic step in handling the unexpected visitor at the Baths by partially lifting sections of the net, providing the animal a chance to exit the area naturally. This method aligns with expert recommendations, aiming for a peaceful resolution that allows the creature to leave on its own terms, according to a statement released by the council.

“If we find that the animal has vacated the area, we will restore the nets to their original state and promptly reopen the baths once the enclosure is secure,” the statement continued.

However, if the creature remains within the area, the council is prepared to enlist the help of specialists to gently encourage its departure, ensuring minimal stress for the animal.

A spokesperson from Mosman council noted that routine maintenance checks were performed on the nets just last month, ensuring they were in good condition prior to this incident.
