Vegas hotel threw lesbians out for being affectionate, lawsuit alleges

A lesbian couple has accused a Las Vegas casino of discrimination, alleging they were ejected for being “too affectionate” and subsequently mistreated by a security guard during their removal. The incident has sparked a legal battle over the actions taken by The Strat and its staff.

Brianne Garcia and Lelannie Dominguez, residents of California, have initiated a negligence lawsuit against The Strat, a prominent hotel and casino located on the northern end of the Vegas Strip. The lawsuit was filed in Nevada’s Clark County District Court earlier this week, highlighting the couple’s grievances over the events of May 3, 2024.

According to the lawsuit, Garcia and Dominguez were enjoying themselves at one of the establishment’s bars, engaging in what they describe as affectionate behavior. However, their evening took an unexpected turn when a waitress approached them, requesting that they tone down their display of affection.

While the specific bar within The Strat where the incident occurred is not detailed in the lawsuit, the venue itself is noteworthy for being home to the tallest observation tower in the United States. It boasts nine dining establishments and five bars, alongside an expansive 80,000-square-foot casino.

In addition to being a major entertainment hub, The Strat offers accommodations with rooms starting at approximately $75 per night. This incident has cast a shadow over the hotel’s reputation, raising questions about how it handles interactions with guests.

A room for two at the hotel starts at approximately $75 per night, and it is attached to an 80,000-square-foot casino.

The women felt that they were being singled out and treated differently based on their gender and sexual orientation, and questioned the waitress over their treatment.

Shortly after, they were approached by a manager who told them to leave the premises, and they were then escorted to the elevator by a security guard, according to the lawsuit.

‘During the escort, [Garcia and Dominguez] felt that one of the security guards was acting in an aggressive and confrontational manner,’ the court document stated.

The women claimed the security guard physically battered them during the altercation, causing ‘serious injuries and suffered great pain of body and mind, some of which conditions are permanent and disabling.’

The lawsuit accused The Strat of failing to properly train its employees and allowing security personnel to use unreasonable and excessive force.

It also argues that Garcia and Dominguez were treated differently and singled out because of their gender and/or sexual orientation.

They are seeking damages in excess of $15,000, including for medical expenses and lost wages, to be determined at trial from The Strat and its operator, Golden Entertainment.

Notably, Golden Entertainment reported a major loss for its end of 2025 revenue and is transferring ownership of The Strat to another company, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

The company posted fourth-quarter revenue of $155.6 million, which is a $8.6 million year-over-year decline, according to public filings.

For the whole year, Golden had a net loss of $6 million for 2025, and has previously announced plans to sell its operating assets to VICI Properties Inc.

Those assets include The Strat, the Aquarius and Edgewater resorts in Laughlin, the Pahrump Nugget and two Arizona Charlie’s casinos in Las Vegas.
