A troubling incident in Alabama has left authorities and the community concerned, as a man allowed an 18-month-old child to ride with him on a motorcycle without a helmet, leading to a crash. The man, identified as 32-year-old Aaron Roberson, is now facing multiple charges including second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, as revealed by Blount County jail records.

According to the information obtained by the Birmingham-based NBC affiliate WVTM, Roberson was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he decided to take the toddler on a motorcycle ride on February 14. Disturbingly, neither Roberson nor the young child wore helmets during the ride, a detail that has heightened concerns about safety and responsibility.

The situation escalated when Roberson allegedly lost control of the motorcycle while speeding on a paved road, resulting in a crash that left the child with significant injuries to the face and head. Shockingly, Roberson chose not to report the accident or seek immediate medical assistance for the injured child. Instead, he left the scene, leaving the incident unreported and the child’s injuries unattended.

Court documents further reveal that Roberson, accompanied by others at the time of the accident, failed to provide the necessary aid to the toddler following the crash. As of now, details regarding the current health status of both Roberson and the child remain undisclosed, adding another layer of uncertainty to this distressing case.

At some point, Roberson was allegedly speeding on a paved road when he crashed, causing serious injuries to the child’s face and head. However, the defendant reportedly did not call the police or any other authority, instead opting to leave the scene without disclosing that a crash and injuries occurred.

Court records stated the defendant did not give necessary help to the toddler and was with others when he fled the crash site. Neither Roberson’s health status nor that of the child’s is clear.

Law&Crime reached out to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office for more information.

About a month after the crash, on Wednesday, Roberson was arrested and booked into the Blount County jail on the four charges; he was reportedly held on a $37,000 bond until he was released on Thursday.

Blount County is located in northern Alabama about 50 miles north of Birmingham.
