Even one of Iran’s staunchest terror allies is now calling for a cessation of its aggressive actions in the Middle East.

In an unusual move on Saturday, Hamas released a statement urging Iran to cease its retaliatory attacks on neighboring Gulf states.

“While we acknowledge Iran’s right to respond to aggression by any necessary means in line with international norms and laws, we appeal to our Iranian brothers not to target neighboring countries,” Hamas declared in its announcement.

This marks the first instance where the Palestinian militant group has publicly addressed the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

Hamas, which relies on support from Iran and other Gulf nations like Qatar and Turkey, finds itself in a delicate position as Tehran launches counterstrikes. This complex situation has arisen since the conflict’s onset.

A Hamas official revealed to AFP that the group, significantly weakened by its conflict with Israel in Gaza, has been in discussions with Iranian leaders regarding the matter.

It’s also spoken to officials in other Mideast countries including Qatar, Turkey and Iraq, to urge them to work toward an end to the war, according to the source.

Since the first US and Israeli strikes against Iran on Feb. 28, Tehran has responded by firing hundreds of missiles and drones at half a dozen Middle Eastern countries in counterattacks, warning there was “no red line” after the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
