According to Melbourne Airport, “The Boeing 737 aircraft landed safely and taxied to the gate where passengers were able to disembark normally.”

As a safety measure, Virgin Australia reported that Aviation Rescue Firefighters followed the aircraft upon landing and successfully “removed the device from the aircraft.”

In aviation terminology, the call made was a PAN, indicating a situation where help might be needed – an urgent, though not emergency, request.

The flight departed from Brisbane shortly before 1 PM and safely arrived in Melbourne just before 4:30 PM AEDT.

Passengers disembarked normally.
