Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a man whose body was found in a Melbourne river, as they continue their search for answers. The man’s remains were discovered last month in the Maribyrnong River, situated in Melbourne’s north-west.
On Valentine’s Day, around 11 a.m., police were called to the scene near Canning Street in Avondale Heights, following reports of an unresponsive male in the water. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that the man was already deceased.
While the circumstances surrounding his death are not considered suspicious, the identity of the man remains unknown despite the detectives’ thorough investigations.
Authorities are now urging anyone who might have information that could help identify the man to come forward, as they aim to piece together the details of this tragic discovery.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, with dark hair and facial hair, and several distinctive tattoos.
A ‘Mr Horsepower’ tattoo and ‘Mum 1964 – 2006’ are inked on his right forearm.
His left forearm is tattooed with an outline of black flames.
The man is believed to be between the ages of 21 and 50.
He was wearing a dark shirt with ‘BARBER’ insignia, a studded belt, black jeans, black socks and a silver necklace when he was found.

Police have also released a digitally generated image of the man and CCTV captured on Sunday, February 8 at about 8:10pm.
His body was found six days later.
