Police on patrol in the area found the US tourist and took him to Sukawati Police Station.

The tourist reportedly told police that he had been compelled to walk from a villa in Ubud after his stay concluded, unaware of the local restrictions in place.

He further claimed ignorance regarding the suspension of vehicle operations during this time.

After explaining the local regulations to the traveler, police assisted by arranging temporary accommodation at a nearby villa to cover the remainder of his holiday.

Gianyar Sub-Regional Police Chief, Chandra Citra Kesuma, emphasized the need for international visitors to respect Balinese traditional laws to uphold community harmony.

Nyepi, a significant day in the Balinese calendar, is observed by Balinese Hindus as a period of silence, fasting, and meditation.

Activities including work, travel, leisure and entertainment after prohibited between 6am and 6am the following day.

During the holiday, the streets of Bali are empty and the airport remains closed for the entire day.
