A man became the victim of a violent carjacking and armed robbery at a hotel located on the New South Wales south coast late last night.

Authorities responded to a distress call at a hotel on Campbell Street in Narooma around 10:30 p.m., following reports of a shooting involving a 31-year-old man.

The injured man received immediate medical care at the scene before being transported to Moruya Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Police have reported that an unidentified assailant entered the hotel, shot the victim, and then made off with stolen cash.

Before escaping, the suspect allegedly threatened others inside the hotel and demanded additional money.

Police were told the man then approached a 17-year-old driver in a Toyota Land Cruiser in a nearby car park before demanding the teen get out of the car, threatening them with the gun.

The unknown man left the scene in the car, and it was found shortly after, burnt out on the Princes Highway in Narooma.

The fire was extinguished shortly after, and police are now investigating the incident.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make an online report.
