Stephen A. Smith has openly criticized President Trump, accusing him of severely mishandling the situation in Iran, which he describes as having deteriorated into a “complete and utter disaster.”

The prominent ESPN commentator, who has hinted at a potential presidential run himself, strongly condemned the Trump administration amidst the escalating conflict. As the war stretches into its third week, Americans are experiencing surging gas prices, travel disruptions, and a general sense of instability.

“What is going on here? This is absolute nonsense, and it has to end,” Smith exclaimed. “This is not what America stands for.”

Smith argued that American citizens deserve better treatment and criticized the Republican Party for enabling the president’s actions. “The GOP is complicit because they’ve allowed him to continue down this path,” he asserted.

He further claimed that the president, often dubbed “Teflon Don,” is jeopardizing the future of the Republican Party, inadvertently benefiting their Democratic opponents.

“The reason it’s easy to criticize the President right now is simple: he’s making significant errors,” Smith stated during his SiriusXM radio broadcast.

‘Somebody has to say it… he’s messing up so badly that the Republican Party is in a world of trouble. Somebody better wake them up real quick.’

Smith insisted he was speaking as a ‘registered independent’ who is not trying to ‘take sides’ between left and right. ‘I can’t stand none of your a***es,’ he said about politicians.

But the ESPN host warned: ‘The GOP is in danger of eviscerating itself to a degree it may never recover from – or at the very least take a long time to recover from. 

‘Assuming the Democrats don’t resemble idiots and mess up the momentum that has accidentally fallen right in their laps. You can’t make this stuff up. Christmas has arrived for the Democratic Party in the month of March, 2026.’

Smith took particular aim at Vice President JD Vance for ‘lying his a** off’ after Vance claimed gas prices were higher under Joe Biden.

During an extraordinary rant, he also slammed the Democrats, claimed Trump is reaping what he sowed after ‘bullying’ America’s allies. He even impersonated the president.

‘”Everything is great, everything is wonderful. How could you think otherwise? We’re winning the war… it’s not really a war but if it was, we’re winning,”‘ Smith continued. ‘This is the kind of nonsensical s*** coming out of his mouth.

‘And somehow, someway, you have Republicans out there playing a role of apologist, forgetting to do their job and thinking it’s not going to come back to cost them.’

Smith also took aim at Vice President JD Vance (L) and Secretary of State Marco Rubio (R)

Smith added: ‘He’s Teflon Don… he’s bent rules, he’s bent norms, he’s walked away clean. And the GOP made a mistake: they started thinking it’s their party instead of recognizing it’s his party. That the stuff he gets away with, they’ll never get away with.’ 

The ESPN host then cited figures that claim Trump has made $1.4billion in ‘personal profit since returning to office.’

‘You can’t make this up. It’s so bad… Donald Trump isn’t running for a third term, unless he wants to circumvent the constitution of the United States,’ Smith continued.

‘He’s going home with the billions of dollars he’s collected as President of the United States between him, his sons and other family members… none of y’all can get away with the stuff he’s gotten away with. None of y’all can garner [this] level of popularity.’

He suggested the likes of Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio would pay the price if they chose to run for president in the future. Unless they started to stand up to Trump.

‘Show you have some balls, a spine,’ Smith continued. Because if you don’t, you will fall. He ain’t falling, he’s just leaving… he’s still good. It’s the rest of us that are in trouble. He has his billions, he has his relationships.’
