Iran launched two intermediate-range ballistic missiles targeting Diego Garcia, a strategic US-UK military base in the Indian Ocean, but the missiles failed to reach their destination, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal on Friday, citing several US officials.
One of the missiles malfunctioned mid-flight, while the other was met with a US warship’s SM-3 interceptor. However, it remains unclear whether the interception attempt was successful, the report stated.

The Wall Street Journal did not provide specific details regarding the timing of the missile launch.
As of the latest updates, the White House, alongside the British embassy in Washington and the UK’s Ministry of Defence, has not responded to Reuters’ requests for comment on the incident.
