The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has reported that a victim, after being transported to a nearby hospital, succumbed to his injuries.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Saturday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office revealed a swift arrest following a tragic incident in which a man allegedly killed his father in the city’s Eastside.
Authorities from JSO stated that officers were dispatched to a shooting incident at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at a residence located in the 1200 block of Grant Street.
Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered the victim, identified as 50-year-old Michael Johnson, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, he later died from his injuries.
According to the sheriff’s office, witness interviews conducted at the scene led to the identification of Michael’s son, 26-year-old David Johnson, as the suspected shooter.
David Johnson was apprehended shortly after midnight on Saturday and is currently being held at the Duval County Jail.
