A tragic incident near Loyola University Chicago has led to the arrest of a 25-year-old suspect following the fatal shooting of a student. This heartbreaking event took place in the early hours of Thursday morning, as reported by the Chicago Tribune.
While the Tribune has acquired the arrest report, they have not disclosed the suspect’s name. Sources informed Fox News that the individual in custody is a migrant from Venezuela.
The victim, Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old from Westchester County, New York, was enjoying a walk with friends along Chicago’s lakefront when the attack occurred. It was shortly after 1:30 a.m. when she was tragically gunned down.

According to the Chicago Police Department, a masked assailant approached the group, brandished a firearm, and fired a shot that fatally struck Gorman in the head. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving her family and friends devastated.
Thankfully, the other individuals in the group escaped the incident without physical harm, police confirmed. Sheridan Gorman’s vibrant smile, often showcased against the backdrop of the Chicago skyline in her Instagram posts, will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
No other injuries were reported, according to police.
Records obtained by the Tribune state the suspect was identified minutes after the shooting due to his “distinct limp.”

In a letter sent to students Thursday, Loyola University Chicago President Mark C. Reed confirmed Gorman’s death while addressing the campus community.
“It is with profound sadness that I write to share that one of our students, Sheridan Gorman, was killed earlier today,” Reed said. “This is a tragic loss, and our hearts go out to Sheridan’s family, loved ones, and all who knew her.”
