'Cold front coming on through'

Mother Nature seems to have more in store for New York, as the state braces for a mix of snow showers upstate and chilly rain in the city later this week.

According to Accuweather Senior Meteorologist Carl Erickson, a cold front is expected to sweep through the New York City area, potentially bringing showers late Friday into Friday night. “It will get cooler as breezes pick up on Saturday,” Erickson explained to The Post on Sunday.

Temperatures are anticipated to dip from the low 50s down to the mid-40s, marking a noticeable drop.

Meanwhile, the Adirondacks in upstate New York, already blanketed with some snow, may experience additional light snow showers as the cold front makes its presence felt, Erickson noted. “There could be some snow showers across the Adirondacks; the highest terrain might see a bit more snow out of this. However, a significant snow event across the Northeast isn’t expected at this time,” he clarified.

This comes after the tristate area endured a relentless barrage of snowstorms throughout the winter, keeping residents on high alert for any weather changes.

The tristate area was pummeled by relentless snowstorms this winter.

Winter Storm Fern buried parts of New York City in 1 to 2 feet of snow. At least 28 people were killed countrywide in a variety of storm-related accidents or illnesses.

Winter Storm Hernando came just a few weeks later, dumping an extra 15 to 20 inches of snow on top of local heaps that hadn’t melted.
