Last year, authorities launched an investigation into a young boy following a search at a residence in the Inner West, where they discovered a gel blaster and a flick knife.
The boy was initially detained and charged with possessing an unauthorized firearm and a prohibited weapon without a permit, but was released on bail for both offenses.
However, after uncovering what is believed to be extremist material, officials have now filed additional charges against him.
The new charges include one count of collecting documents that could facilitate a terrorist act, two counts of creating documents likely to facilitate a terrorist act, and two counts of possessing violent extremist content.
