GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On March 11, Shakira Latreece Campbell, aged 32, found herself under arrest following allegations of urinating in a parking garage at an apartment complex near the university. This incident came just a week after she had completed a 45-day jail sentence for making threats against a police officer.

Around 7:56 a.m., a maintenance worker at Stadium House Apartments, located at 1642 W. University Avenue, discovered Campbell asleep beneath a staircase in the garage. After asking her to vacate the premises, he returned shortly and purportedly observed her adjusting her attire next to a suspicious liquid puddle on the floor.

When confronted about the alleged act, Campbell reportedly reacted aggressively, yelling at the employee and threatening to shoot him. However, the worker did not perceive the threat as credible and opted to leave the area before contacting law enforcement.

Upon arrival, the responding officer noted Campbell continuing her tirade from within the garage. Under the stairs, he found a small mat alongside Campbell’s personal items and a damp spot on the concrete. Campbell was reportedly shouting claims of divine parentage, insisting her father was Lord Kartikeya, a deity in Hinduism, and asserting the employee had no right to address her.

When the officer attempted to obtain Campbell’s account of events, she allegedly refused to engage in conversation.

Campbell has been charged with trespassing after a warning and violating a statute that includes outraging the sense of public decency. She has one misdemeanor conviction (violent) for a January incident in which she was asked to leave Publix (203 NW 13th St.) after falling asleep at a table; when an officer found her across the street, she started yelling and threatening to kill the officer, his wife, and his children. She also reportedly stated specifically that she would hang the officer and cut his head off. After she entered a plea of nolo contendere to threatening to kill a law enforcement officer, Judge Meshon Rawls sentenced her to 45 days in jail with credit for 45 days served, and she was released on March 4.

Campbell also has an unspecified criminal history in other Florida counties and in California, Alabama, Mississippi, Virginia, New York, Maryland, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $5,000, and Campbell remains in the Alachua County Jail.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
