Up to 800 Texas teens take over $4.8M mansion on Airbnb for social media party — as brawls, gunshots sends crowd scrambling

In a startling incident, approximately 800 teenagers descended upon a luxurious $4.8 million mansion in Texas, rented through Airbnb, resulting in chaotic scenes of altercations and gunfire that disrupted the serene setting.

The mansion’s owner, Kishore Karlapudi, reported that he was misled by the young partygoers, who initially claimed they were renting the high-value property for a modest gathering. However, the event quickly escalated into a large-scale party after being advertised on social media on a Saturday night in Celina, Texas.

“The booking was made under the pretense of accommodating just seven people,” Karlapudi explained to KDFW, highlighting the deception that led to the mayhem.

Inside the home, the teens reportedly caused extensive damage, moving furniture and appliances into the garage to create an expansive dance floor.

“We were completely taken aback by the situation,” Karlapudi recounted. “They caused significant damage to the property. All the furniture from the living area was relocated to the garage. Additionally, they dismantled wall fixtures, and the damage extended to the broken granite countertop, which appeared to have been used as a makeshift dance platform.”

“They took all the wall fixtures, everything out. They broke the wall fixture. They broke, the island was broken. The granite countertop was broken because it looks like kids danced on those.”

Videos from inside the home recorded glimpses of the packed gathering reminiscent of a popular nightclub rather than a 5,000 square foot, 4-bedroom single-family unit.

Word of the massive bash spread around on the internet to teens who showed up at the home.

“This incident multiplied in numbers due to a social media post advertising a party, which attracted between 500-800 teens and young adults to the location,” Celina Police Chief John Cullison said in a statement Sunday.

Officers were wading through the crowd when two people erupted into a wild brawl, one of the fighters appearing to be dragged on the ground, according to police footage obtained by WFAA.

Multiple gunshots were fired as the unidentified grapplers clawed at each other, scattering the giant mob off the property.

Police rushed to the home where the shots were heard.

No injuries were reported and it was not known if any gunman was identified.

Cullison revealed the department also received reports of 10 armed men at the front gates threatening to kill someone.

“We had shots fired. We had assaults. We had people threatening to kill people. We have bloody sheets on location. All these things are just an incredibly bad mixture that can end up in your child getting hurt,” Cullison told KDFW.

Officials believe four shots were fired at the home and two more towards the college campus across the street from the house where most of the 15-to 25-year-old partygoers had parked, according to the outlet.

“Not just local kids, but it looks like Dallas and other communities around here. And so, this wasn’t just a Celina concern. This is a metropolitan concern,” the police chief said.

Cullison condemned the massive gathering and social media campaign as unsafe and irresponsible.

“Scenes like these highlight the very real risks and dangers associated with large, unsupervised gatherings, especially when fueled through social media and potentially involving underage alcohol or substance abuse,” he said in his statement.

“As both your Chief of Police and a parent, I strongly encourage parents in our community to use this incident as a catalyst for having open and direct conversations with their sons and daughters about personal responsibility, wise decision making, and the dangers that can quickly intensify in such environments.”

The property, sitting on 18.3 acres and built in 1996, is valued at $4.84 million, according to online estimates.

A minor was arrested for a suspected DUI and another person was captured because they had an active warrant for aggravated assault, Cullison said, adding it was an active investigation.

It was not known if further charges or arrests would be made involving the party.
