The dreamlike atmosphere of a wedding day turned into an unexpected scene straight out of a movie for one groom in Indiana. Bradley D. Armstrong found himself in the middle of a dramatic arrest on what was supposed to be a day of celebration.

On March 17, Armstrong, aged 66, arrived at the courthouse in Indiana, ready to exchange vows. However, before he could say “I do,” two police officers intervened, reminiscent of a plot twist in the “Wedding Crashers” film. The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident in a press release, detailing the unusual turn of events on Armstrong’s big day.

The arrest stemmed from Armstrong’s failure to comply with legal requirements as a registered sex offender. He had not updated his driver’s license with his current address, which is mandatory within 30 days of moving. Instead, he used his outdated address to apply for a marriage license, leading to his arrest at the courthouse.

Armstrong had already been warned about this oversight in November, according to an incident report shared with Oxygen. By February, he had still not rectified the situation, prompting another warning from authorities. When he appeared for his wedding, a warrant awaited him, leading to his arrest before the ceremony could begin, as confirmed by a court spokesperson to Oxygen.com.

Following his arrest, Armstrong was booked into the La Porte County Jail. However, he managed to post bond and was released on the same day, the incident report notes.

Armstrong’s legal troubles trace back to a serious conviction. According to the county sex offender registry, he is listed as a sexual violent predator, having been convicted of child molestation in 2002. He served his sentence and was released from prison in March 2004. This history underscores the importance of adhering to legal obligations, particularly regarding address updates for registered offenders.

Armstrong has not yet been assigned an attorney, per the court spokesperson, and his next court date is April 8.
