Police arrest three more men over arson attack on Jewish community ambulances

On Wednesday, British authorities announced the arrest of three additional suspects linked to last month’s arson attack on Jewish community ambulances in north London.

The ambulances were deliberately set ablaze on March 23, an act British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has condemned as a “deeply shocking antisemitic arson attack.”

The SITE Intelligence Group reported that a multinational militant group aligned with Iran, known as the Islamic Movement of the People of the Right Hand, claimed responsibility for the attack near a synagogue in London’s Golders Green neighborhood.

While counter-terrorism officers are leading the investigation, the incident has not yet been officially classified as terrorism.

The Metropolitan Police revealed that the three individuals, aged 20, 19, and 17, were apprehended at separate locations in east London. They are suspected of conspiracy to commit arson with the intention of endangering lives.

Among the arrested, two are British nationals, while the third holds dual British-Pakistani citizenship. The previous week, detectives had also detained two British nationals in their 40s, who were subsequently released on police bail.

“We know concern among the Jewish community remains high, but I hope these arrests show that we are doing everything we can to bring those responsible to justice,” said Commander Helen Flanagan, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing London.
