An Ohio physician accused of soliciting sex from a 16-year-old girl last year opted to end his life rather than stand trial for his alleged offenses.

Consequently, the legal proceedings against Francis J. Kearse III, aged 43, are set to be terminated, as reported by WXIX.

Previously associated with Baptist Health as an emergency medicine specialist, Kearse’s name has since been removed from their listings. He was scheduled to appear in court for arraignment early on Tuesday morning.

In Hamilton County, Kearse faced charges of compelling prostitution, including involving a minor, trafficking in persons, and solicitation. He also had pending charges in Butler County, which are likewise expected to be dropped.

“He chose the most difficult escape from justice,” remarked Judge Christopher McDowell during Tuesday’s court session.

The indictment detailed that Kearse initiated contact with the 16-year-old through Snapchat last year, providing her with gift cards and later requesting “some kinda payback.” Their encounter on October 19 involved him giving her two vape pens and $15 in exchange for sex.

Kearse was arrested on March 11, and the judge released him on his own recognizance. He shot himself to death on Friday.

His medical license remained active after his arrest, although he was clearly removed from his job with Baptist Health. Local media apparently didn’t contact them or get an answer if they did.

A US News & World Report directory said he also had emergency medicine privileges at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Indiana.
