Two residents from Minnesota face assault charges following a road rage altercation involving a golf club.

Clarence Lyons, 37, and Patience Jentzen, 31, were released on bond after authorities apprehended them due to a violent incident on March 23. According to court documents reviewed by Law&Crime, police received reports of an assault near a Robbinsdale, Minnesota intersection, where they discovered a man bleeding from a head wound. This individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, had attempted to intervene in what he perceived as a road rage conflict between two other drivers.

The police report states that when this bystander approached, Lyons allegedly struck him with a golf club.

The account details that surveillance video captured the road rage incident starting when a brown sedan aggressively overtook a red sedan, cutting it off and abruptly stopping. This forced the red sedan to halt, with a silver SUV, driven by the eventual victim, trailing behind them.

The victim, having parked his SUV, approached the brown sedan. Lyons emerged from the passenger side, and Jentzen followed suit from the driver’s side. As they confronted the victim, the red sedan departed the scene.

While Jentzen and the victim exchanged heated words, Lyons returned to the brown sedan to arm himself with a golf club. As the victim attempted to retreat to his SUV, Lyons purportedly charged at him, wielding the club and attacking. The confrontation escalated into a physical struggle on the ground, during which Jentzen allegedly entered the victim’s SUV, took his keys, and joined the melee, purportedly striking the victim with the golf club as well.

After the alleged assault ended, Lyons and Jentzen got back into the brown sedan and left the scene.

On March 25, police tracked down the brown sedan and arrested Lyons and Jentzen. According to the statement, both Lyons and Jentzen made “spontaneous utterances” about the victim to the effect of, “He got what he deserved.”

Lyons was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon; Jentzen was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and aggravated robbery. Both were booked into the Hennepin County Jail and posted bond. Jentzen is due to appear in court on April 22; Lyons is scheduled to appear on April 23.
