A woman from Arkansas found herself in a troubling situation after offering a friend she met on Facebook a place to stay for the night. This friend, however, overstayed his welcome and allegedly threatened her and her family when asked to leave, according to authorities.

Tarvon Chalmers, 25, faces serious charges including felony first-degree terroristic threatening, along with misdemeanors for criminal trespassing and possession, as indicated by jail records accessed by Law&Crime.

Chalmers was taken into custody at the Craighead County Detention Center on Thursday.

The woman, a resident of Jonesboro, reported that she had met Chalmers via Facebook last July and maintained a platonic friendship with him, according to details from a probable cause affidavit cited by NEA Report. She explained that after Chalmers had a falling out with his roommates on Monday, he was left without a place to stay.

Feeling empathetic, she decided to let him spend the night at her home. However, by Thursday, he had not yet left, as per the Jonesboro Police Department’s account.

According to the affidavit, when she asked Chalmers to leave, he became angry and demanded $100 to vacate, threatening to damage her belongings if she refused. He allegedly warned her that she would need to call the police to remove him and that her possessions would be destroyed in the process.

The threats allegedly continued.

“Chalmers then told the victim that he was going to shoot her and her family, beat her a— and leave her bloody in front of the victims young child,” the court document goes on.

The woman left her home to take her child to school and when she got to work, she called the police. She said she was afraid to go back home as she believed the suspect “would hurt her.” Still, she did return home.

Officers arrived at the woman’s home, and when she opened the front door, “Chalmers was sitting on the couch,” police said. The suspect had a duffel bag with his belongings in it by the door, and he allegedly grabbed it after yelling, “IM LEAVING,” according to the affidavit.

Officers arrested the defendant and booked him into jail. As they did, authorities reportedly found a bag of marijuana on him.

Chalmers’ bail was set at $15,000 cash or surety, and a no-contact order was put in place. He is expected back in court on May 18.
